Who is the Pinnatifida?
Hygrophila pinnatifida is as beautiful as it is impressive. It is a relatively easy plant to keep in an aquarium. It can reach a height of 30 cm (12") with leaves 20 cm (8") wide.
This plant is amphibious and can grow both in and out of water. It is also polymorphic, meaning that its appearance will vary according to its environment. For example, in an emergent situation (paludarium or aquaterrarium), its leaves are hairy and turn red when the lighting is intense. In an aquarium, where the plant is immersed, its leaves are smooth and serrated. They have a nice green/brown colour on top and red/purple underneath.
If it comes out of the water, this plant flowers from January to March.
Planting and maintenance

How to plant and maintain the Pinnatifida?
Place your plant in a small group in the middle or at the back of your aquarium (depending on its size). You can root it directly in the ground, but also on wood or rocks (still prefer roots).
Hygrophila pinnatifida makes side shoots and top shoots. You must pinch them in order to obtain a compact, more aesthetic growth.
This plant requires good light and a small amount of CO2 is recommended.

How to farm the Pinnatifida?
This plant is cultivated by cutting: cut off the heads and transplant them so that your grove remains dense.
